{"id":3106,"date":"2018-06-01T09:11:25","date_gmt":"2018-06-01T07:11:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madeinart.it\/?page_id=3106"},"modified":"2018-06-15T10:00:30","modified_gmt":"2018-06-15T08:00:30","slug":"the-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/madeinart.it\/en\/roy-lichtenstein-lasting-influence\/the-exhibition","title":{"rendered":"The Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2950 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/madeinart.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/images4.persgroep.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1376\" height=\"899\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madeinart.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/images4.persgroep.jpg 1376w, https:\/\/madeinart.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/images4.persgroep-300x196.jpg 300w, https:\/\/madeinart.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/images4.persgroep-768x502.jpg 768w, https:\/\/madeinart.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/images4.persgroep-1024x669.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1376px) 100vw, 1376px\" \/><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Roy Lichtenstein, <em>Lasting influences<\/em>, MOCO Museum, Amsterdam, 3\/11\/2017 &#8211; 31\/05\/2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On November 2017 Moco Museum presented an exhibition of Roy Lichtenstein, one of the greatest contemporary art interpreters and a master of Pop Art.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Moco museum - Roy Lichtenstein: lasting influence\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JjD4OdNZd6o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The exhibition at Moco was curated by the Italian Gianni Mercurio (curator of shows about Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein) and Mirta d&#8217;Argenzio (curator of a retrospective of Damien Hirst and Robert Rauschenberg) with active participation of Kim and Lionel Logchies, founders of Moco Museum.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, organized by Moco on <em>Madeinart project<\/em> presented, through a large selection of editions like the famous Brushstrokes, Imperfects and Still lifes from European and American collections, the conspicuous themes treated by the great American artist.<\/p>\n<p>The Lichtenstein exhibition at Moco Museum included a 3D interior room installation based on Lichtenstein&#8217;s painting&nbsp;&#8220;Bedroom&nbsp;at Arles&#8221;, which he made in 1992 after a postcard of Van Gogh&#8217;s famous &#8220;The Artist&#8217;s Room at Arles&#8221; (1888-89). A 3D installation of VAN GOGH &#8216;s painting was last presented at the Van Gogh museum in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Roy Lichtenstein said about his version of the Arles Room:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI&#8217;ve cleaned&nbsp;his&nbsp;room&nbsp;up&nbsp;a little&nbsp;bit&nbsp;for him,&nbsp;and&nbsp;he&#8217;ll be very&nbsp;happy&nbsp;when&nbsp;he&nbsp;gets&nbsp;home&nbsp;from the&nbsp;hospital&nbsp;to see that&nbsp;l&#8217;ve&nbsp;straightened&nbsp;his&nbsp;shirts and bought&nbsp;some&nbsp;new&nbsp;furniture.&nbsp;Mine&nbsp;is&nbsp;a rather large&nbsp;painting&nbsp;and&nbsp;his&nbsp;is&nbsp;rather small. His&nbsp;is&nbsp;much&nbsp;better,&nbsp;but&nbsp;mine&nbsp;is much&nbsp;bigger.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The influence of Roy Lichtenstein&#8217;s art is still evident in many forms of artistic expression: from painting to advertising, from photography to design and fashion.<\/p>\n<p>Lichtenstein\u2019s art seems apparently \u201ceasy\u201d to understand. But beyond the surface it is an intellectual, rationalistic art, premeditated and realized through a complex process of a deconstruction and reconstruction of the image: bold lines associated with flat colors, thousands of regular dots, a magnified halftone screen, that suggests the idea of chiaroscuro and impression of reflections of ligh.<\/p>\n<p>From the beginning Roy Lichtenstein\u2019s sophisticated art has had an uninterrupted power of seduction on visual culture and communication, whose end is still far off.
